2024 Dacia Duster: New Tech & Hybrid Option

Dacia has recently unveiled the third generation of its Duster SUV, a popular model in Europe known for its value for money. The new Duster introduces a blend of fresh technology, practical enhancements, and new engine options, including a hybrid variant, while maintaining its commitment to affordability.

Design Evolution

The design of the new Duster draws inspiration from the 2022 Bigster concept, reflecting Dacia’s recent rebranding. The front features a redesigned grille and headlight arrangement, while the rear door handle is cleverly concealed in the C-pillar, contributing to a sleeker profile. The C-shaped rear lights, reminiscent of the Bigster concept, hint at future design directions for the brand.

Interior and Practicality

Inside, the Duster offers increased rear legroom and a larger boot, now boasting a capacity of up to 472 litres. The dashboard displays a robust design, with ‘Duster’ lettering prominently featured. Depending on the trim level, the Duster comes with a range of infotainment options, including a 10.1-inch system with various connectivity features.

Performance and Efficiency

Under the hood, the Duster brings new powertrain options. The highlight is the Hybrid 140, combining a 1.6-litre engine with an electric motor, capable of driving in electric mode for up to 80% of the time in urban settings. Additionally, a new 1.2-litre TCe 130 petrol engine with mild-hybrid technology offers a balance of performance and efficiency. Four-wheel drive versions include a Terrain Control system for enhanced off-road capability.

Trims and Features

The new Duster is available in four trim levels, ranging from the basic Essential to the more off-road-focused Extreme. The Journey model sits alongside the Extreme, likely to be closely matched in price and features, which include modern conveniences like automatic air conditioning, hands-free entry, and a wireless smartphone charger.

Affordability Remains Key

While pricing for the UK market has not been announced, the new Duster is expected to maintain its position as an affordable option in the SUV segment, likely starting at a slight increase from the current model’s £17,295 base price.

In summary, the 2024 Dacia Duster presents itself as a promising update to a well-loved model, balancing new features and technologies with its core value proposition. Its arrival in showrooms in the second half of 2024 is eagerly anticipated.
