Audi has opened order books for two new high-performance models — the RS6 and RS7.

Both cars are mechanically similar, with the RS6 taking on a more practical ‘Avant’ form and the RS7 focusing on style with its ‘Sportback’ hatch layout. Each is powered by a twin-turbocharged V8 producing 592bhp and 800Nm of torque, resulting in a 0-60mph time of 3.4 seconds.

Four trim levels are available on each — a nameless base grade, Carbon Black, Vorsprung and Launch Edition. Pricing for the RS6 starts at £92,750 while the RS7 can be had from £97,050.

As standard, all variants feature all-wheel-steering and a sport differential, with all but Vorsprung utilising RS-specific adaptive air suspension. For the range-topping grade, a model-specific Dynamic Ride Control system comes in its place — which is also available optionally across the rest of the range.

For improved visual presence, Matrix LED headlights, 21-inch alloy wheels and privacy glass are all included for no extra cost. Carbon Black models add 22-inch wheels painted black, as well as a carbon black styling package that sees mirror housings, window trim strips, spoilers and inserts finished in gloss carbon and gloss black.

Vorsprung variants also benefit from 22-inch units finished in a gloss aluminium paint, while both the RS6 and RS7’s twin tailpipes are finished in black on this grade to hint at its sports exhaust setup.

Inside the car, all versions feature Audi’s virtual cockpit plus a 12.3-inch display. This digital cluster replaces traditional dials and gauges in front of the driver, and features RS-specific displays.

Extra goodies on the limited-run Launch Edition variants include red brake calipers, a panoramic sunroof and sports exhaust as standard, top speed de-restriction to 174mph and a Bang & Olufsen 3D sound system.
