New Toyota Yaris Hybrid prices will start from below £15,000, the Japanese hybrid car expert has revealed.

Following the success of the long-running Prius hybrid, Toyota has introduced the technology to its Fiesta competitor, the Toyota Yaris supermini.

Matching a 1.5-litre petrol engine (0.3-litre smaller than the Prius) to an electric motor, the Yaris delivers 80.7mpg on the combined cycle.

It is also road tax free because of sub-80g/km of CO2 emissions from the hybrid setup, placing it easily in Band A of UK road tax.

Toyota Yaris Hybrid prices start from below £15,000 and the five-door compact hatchback is available to pre-order now.

Full Toyota Yaris Hybrid prices and specifications will be announced closer to the launch date on 1 July.
