The all-new Mercedes-AMG C 63 Saloon and Estate models have been revealed for the first time, with the company promising “even greater power, performance, agility and focus than ever before".
Mercedes-AMG’s new model is based on the 205 series aluminium and steel chassis structure, while adding a new 4.0-litre biturbo V8 engine to boost performance.
Codenamed M177, the new engine is more powerful, yet smaller, lighter and 32% more efficient than the unit it replaces. The engine is mated to a revised version of the AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT seven-speed transmission.
Two versions of the Mercedes-AMG C 63 are available: the standard model with 470bhp and 650Nm of torque and the C 63 S version which crank out 503bhp and 700Nm of torque.
The Mercedes-AMG C 63 Saloon is able to complete the 0-62mph sprint 4.1 seconds, while the Estate does it in 4.2 seconds. The more powerful C 63 S versions shave 0.1 seconds off their benchmark sprint times, while all models have an electronically-limited top speed of 155mph.
The Saloon versions will return average fuel economy of 34.5mpg and emit 192g/km of CO2, while the Estate variants will deliver 33.6mpg and 196g/km of CO2, respectively.
Order books for the new Mercedes-AMG models will open in the UK next month. The C 63 Saloon will arrive first, with first deliveries in spring 2015, while the C 63 Estate will follow a few months later.
Prices and specification details will be announced when ordering opens.
