Hyundai's i40 offers C02 emissions from 113g/km, meaning your first year's road tax would be free, and has the lowest 'Benefit in kind' costs amongst diesel competitors.

Hyundai's economic technology - incorporating Intelligent Stop & Go technology - are fitted as standard on all Active trim levels, and on the Style 1.7 CRDi 136PS Blue Drive and the Premium 1.7 CRDi 136PS Blue Drive model that will offer CO2 emissions of 119 g/km.

Some of the i40's standard features of the mid-point Style specification are 16" alloy wheels, Bluetooth connectivity with voice recognition, leather steering wheel with audio controls, electric parking brake with automatic hold function, touch screen satellite navigation with rear view camera, front and rear parking sensors, cruise control and dual zone climate control.

With the range-topping Premium models features such as leather upholstery, panoramic sunroof, lane departure warning and smart parking assist, heated leather steering wheel and ventilated front seats are available.

Safety features of the i40 include Hill-start Assist Control (to prevent roll-back when starting on an incline), seven airbags as standard - front, front side and curtain, with driver knee airbag available as standard on all models.

Hyundai says the i40 Saloon will follow in the footsteps of the Tourer by achieving the maximum five-star result under Euro NCAP's impact assessment.

All Hyundai i40 models will also be supported by Hyundai's five year triple care assurance. This package offers five-year unlimited warranty, five years of roadside assistance and five years of vehicle health checks.

The Hyundai i40 saloon prices range from £17,395 to £24,895 depending on model. It will go on sale in the UK in January 2012.
