Audi's popular compact A1 model has been given two new specifications, the Black edition and the Contrast edition.
The Contrast Edition offers a contrasting roofline colour scheme and a new aerodynamic like body style, unique to the Sport Edition. It also adds new larger 17-inch 'five arm' bi-colour alloy wheels.
This new sporty appeal is topped off with a new double-blade roof spoiler which also comes with a contrasting colour scheme. Bear in mind that this spoiler is an optional extra and cost extra.
The Black Edition is based on the S line specification. The Black Edition, as it says in the name, adds many new black coloured style features including black styling treatment for the single frame grille surround and number plate holder, dark tinted privacy glass and 18-inch five-arm rotor design alloy wheels in a titanium finish.
It also adds Xenon Plus headlights with LED daytime-running lights. Interior extras include full electronic climate control and the Audi Sound System speaker upgrade giving 180 watts of output.
The Black Edition cost £1,100 over the price of an equivalent S line model.
Both models are also available with a new 2.0-litre TDI. This 2.0-litre TDI is available with Sport, S line, Contrast Edition and Black Edition specification levels, and is priced from £17,945 OTR.
Power wise this engine delivers a top speed of 135mph and maximum torque of 320Nm. It gives off emissions of 108g/km and a mile per gallon figure of 68.9. This sub 120g/km means that the Audi will be exempt from its first year road tax.
Audi's A1 supermini was the first truly premium model in the segment and has been a big success, picking up What Car? Car of the Year 2011 shortly after its official launch date.
