The new Alpina B4 Bi-Turbo is fitted with a 404bhp 3.0-litre engine, mated to an eight-speed automatic gearbox. The unit can generate a whopping 600Nm of torque.

In Coupe guise, the B4 Bi-Turbo can sprint from zero to 62mph in just 4.2 seconds, while the Convertible version can complete the benchmark sprint in 4.5 seconds.

The new B4 Bi-Turbo will also return claimed average fuel economy of 37mpg, while emitting 177g/km of CO2.

Alpina will launch the new model in the UK at the 2014 Goodwood Festival of Speed, where visitors will also get a chance to see the XD3 luxury compact SUV and the powerful D3 Bi-Turbo.

Matthew Stripling, Alpina GB sales manager, commented: “Alpina customers value the finely-honed feel of a bespoke car and the easily accessible performance that comes with substantial torque available at almost any engine speed.

“We are not trying to compete with cars that must also perform well on a track. An Alpina is often described as ‘the best performance car for the real world’ and that’s something we are very proud of."

The BMW Alpina B4 Bi-Turbo will be priced from £58,950 in Coupe form and £62,950 in Convertible guise.

All models receive a host of standard kit, including 20-inch alloy wheels, climate control, Bi-Xenon headlights, leather upholstery, electrically-adjustable heated sports seats, Adaptive M Sport Suspension and a quad exhaust.
