Mazda is launching a limited edition MX-5 model in order to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the iconic two-seat sports car.
The Mazda MX-5 Roadster Coupe 2.0-litre 25th Anniversary Limited Edition will go on sale in the UK from August 1st 2014, with only 750 out of the 1,000 examples being made reaching the UK.
Jeremy Thomson, Managing Director, Mazda UK, commented: “To date, three generations of Mazda MX-5 have witnessed the release of over 43 Special Edition models in the UK since 1990.
“None, however, could be more significant to us than this 25th Anniversary Limited Edition, which marks such an important milestone for a car that single-handedly reintroduced the world to the pleasures of exhilarating and affordable open-topped motoring."
The 25th Anniversary model is based on the MX-5 Roadster Coupe 2.0-litre Sport Tech Nav specification, and boasts an array of additional interior and exterior features.
Models come with 17-inch Dark Gunmetal alloy wheels, a model-unique ‘Soul Red’ metallic paint finish, leather-trimmed upholstery, alloy pedal set, and a 6.1-inch touch-screen Mazda Navigation System.
At the heart of the model is a 158bhp 2.0-litre engine, mated to a six-speed manual transmission. The MX-5 25th Anniversary Limited Edition has a benchmark sprint time of below eight seconds and can reach a top speed of 136mph.
