Volkswagen has slashed prices for the new Polo after it revealed a new trim level for the former European Car of the Year.
Volkswagen has released a new ‘value for money’ trim level for the Polo supermini with the new Match trim replacing SE and Moda versions.
The change will save customers £215 on previous Volkswagen models however new Match models add £650 worth of equipment.
That means prices for the new Volkswagen Polo Match start from £11,300 for the entry-level 1.2-litre 59bhp manual version.
In terms of equipment, the Polo Match comes with a fairly comprehensive list of standard options including 15-inch alloy wheels, air conditioning and a Multi Device Interface which provides owners with iPod connectivity while safety features come in the form of ABS, an Electronic Stabilisation Programme (ESP).
Three engines are available with the new Match trim level with a larger 1.4-litre 84bhp petrol unit and a single 1.2-litre 74bhp diesel option which is the most economical in the range with CO2 emissions of just 102g/km.
Volkswagen’s diesel engines are some of the best in business in terms of performance and economy however the German manufacturer is yet to confirm whether BlueMotion versions will be available for Match models despite using the same diesel powertrain.
Volkswagen has driven down the cost of ownership by offering a range of finance options for the Polo Match with a Solutions PCP deal which includes a year’s free insurance and free servicing for three years or 30,000 miles.
