Toyota launches the third generation of the Yaris supermini.

Toyota has launched the third generation Yaris supermini with a new range of in-car technology and a start price of £11,170.

The latest model is a blend of ‘value for money, practicality and technology’ according to Toyota which means a new multimedia pack called ‘Touch and Go’, a more comprehensive equipment list and improved economy.

The new ‘Touch and Go’ multimedia pack comes in two forms kicking off with the ‘Touch’ audio system which is available on every model with the exception of the range-opening T2 specification.

As the name suggests it’s a touch screen audio system which also doubles up as a rear parking camera with Bluetooth connectivity. This system can be upgraded to the full ‘Touch and Go’ interface which adds a satellite navigation system as well as information services which can be downloaded via a Toyota customer portal.

Three engines will be available on the Yaris from launch comprising two petrol and a single 1.4-litre D-4D turbodiesel which is the most efficient in the Yaris’s range, returning 104g/km in CO2 emissions and 72.4mpg on a combined cycle.

The two petrol offerings come in the form of a 1.0-litre and a larger 1.33-litre Dual VVT-i unit which sits at the top of the range and isn’t available for entry-level customers.

Four trim levels are available, starting with the T2 trim where prices open at £11,170 for the three-door model and peak with the five-door T Spirit which costs £15,385and customers can expect their deliveries in September.
