Skoda UK has been named ‘Importer of the Year’ at the Czech manufacturer’s in-house awards ceremony.
The British arm also won the ‘Human Touch’ award for customer care and the top ‘Marketing’ prize for its network development and the success of its campaigns including the ‘Made of Meaner Stuff’ television commercial.
As well as the internal recommendation, the advert also claimed a prestigious silver prize at the British Television Advertising awards – rounding off a successful 12 months for the UK team.
The best-selling Skoda model in the UK was the Octavia with 17,000 unit sales, forcing the Fabia hatchback into second place with 15,000 sales. Overall it was the most successful year-to-date for Skoda in the UK.
Skoda UK’s Director, Robert Hazelwood said: “Skoda continues to go from strength to strength in the UK and 2010 was a fantastic year for the brand.
“Demand for all products in our five-model line-up has surged and customers recognise that Skoda is a brand that delivers great quality cars at outstanding value for money, delivered and serviced by retailers who take excellent care of their customers."
Skoda Auto echoed its success in the UK by registering its best ever sales results with 762,600 units sold across the globe – an increase of 11.5 per cent on 2009 – breaking the 750,000 threshold for the first time in its history.
The event took place in Prague, Czech Republic and was attended by more than 30 Skoda offices from around the world.
