Skoda promoted its green technology

Skoda has been promoting its eco-signature for the Fabia, having driven 1,246 miles on a single 45-litre tank of fuel.

The Fabia GreenLine II was driven by a ‘hypermiling’ specialist, Gerhard Plattner, from his home country of Austria to Bov, in Denmark.

Using a combination of eco-driving techniques and the Skoda’s eco-technology he was able to record a fuel economy figure of 127.8mpg throughout the trip – more than 40mpg more than the Fabia’s official combined consumption figure of 83.1mpg.

Despite the length of the trip securing a record for the model itself, the Fabia GreenLine II still fell some way short of the world record distance on a single tank of fuel, currently held by a Volkswagen Passat BlueMotion, which stands at 1,531 miles.

Plattner commented on the Skoda’s performance, saying: “The Škoda GreenLine models are perfect for fuel-efficient driving. In light of the current fuel prices, not only is that important for one’s own wallet, but also for lowering environmental pollution.

The Skoda Fabia GreenLine II comes with a common range of efficient technologies including start-stop technology and brake energy recuperation as standard.

Pricing for the Skoda Fabia GreenLine II starts from around £13,000.
