Vauxhall has announced prices and specification for the new Ampera hatchback, a car which uses both electric power and a petrol engine.
Vauxhall has reassured its customers that there will be 23-strong dealer networks where the model can be purchased in the UK.
The Ampera is a hybrid which uses an electric motor powered by a battery. When this battery runs out of fuel its petrol engine kicks in and simultaneously recharges the battery. In terms of economy the Ampera will return over 100mpg and emit CO2 emissions of just 40g/.
The new Ampera model will be available with three trim levels in total. The entry level trim level benefits from standard features such as a DAB radio, cruise control, alloy wheels and a 7-inch touch-screen control monitor. The entry level model starts from £29,995.
The second available trim is the Positiv trim. This adds features like leather interior, heated front seats and front/rear parking sensors with a rear-view camera. Prices for the Positiv trim start from £32,250.
The top of the range trim is the Electron. This trim adds a satellite navigation system, colour touch screen, DVD player and voice controls. Prices for this trim start from £33,995.
The Vauxhall Ampera is on sale in the UK in May 2012.
