Group Lotus has announced the forthcoming release of the Lotus Eterne.

The British marque will begin production for its four door super saloon early in 2015.

The four seater sports GT is powered by a 5.0 litre pressure charged V8 engine that delivers 620 PS of power, and will come with the option of hybrid technology.

As well as highlighting the “elegance" of the sports car, Lotus is also quick to stress the benefits of the hybrid technology on the Lotus Eterne.

Danny Bahar, CEO for Group Lotus said the Eterne is a “high performance yet low emitting" sports car.

The hybrid technology for the sports saloon comes in the form of a hybrid gearbox with an integrated electric motor with KERS.

With a front-mid-engined layout, the Eterne is available in rear or all-wheel drive and the four door GT is capable of clearing 0-62 mph in four seconds, with a top speed of 196 mph.

CO₂ emissions for the Lotus Eterne are surprisingly high for a hybrid enabled car, with emissions standing at 220 g/km of CO₂. The only emissions figures available for the Eterne are for the hybrid enabled model.

Priced at around £120,000, the Eterne is to go on sale in Spring 2015.
