Kia has announced that its popular Sorento model, which is currently available from £21,605, will be getting a design overhaul, and will be released across the UK in autumn later this year.
The Sorento SUV has already won over a number of fans since its release in 2009, but the design team at Kia are introducing a large number of interior and exterior additions. Features will include an entirely new chassis, new convenience features, brand new safety features and more. One of its new additions will include brand new exterior LEDs with light positioning technology and rear combination lamps. Vertical-axis fog lights are also set to be added.
The exterior is being re-engineered and refined, while the Sorento’s powertrains will be overhauled to improve fuel economy and lower emissions. Consumers will also have a larger selection of wheels to choose from, including stunning large diameter 19-inch alloys.
The interior will see more soft-touch technology, complemented by new consoles and other aesthetic improvements. The centre stack will have a 7-inch display, a new LCD instrument cluster will be present, and automatic transmission models will have an entirely new console featuring a straight-gate selector.
The new Kia Sorento will be available with black or beige cloth/leather, but will also have a new, larger panoramic sunroof with a powered blind. Thomas Oh, Kia’s Executive Vice President, is happy to be updating one of Kia’s key sellers, and is looking forward to a bright future for the SUV. “Since its introduction in 2009, the second-generation Kia Sorento has achieved more than 620,000 sales around the world.
“Today, it is manufactured in Korea and the USA, attracting over 130,000 U.S. customers last year to rank as the best-selling Kia model in the States for the second year in a row. We have given very careful attention to owners’ feedback, and the upgraded Sorento is not just a cosmetic exercise but a major step forward for our popular SUV."
Askaprice says: “The Kia Sorento is already a fantastic vehicle to own for £21,605, which also includes Kia’s amazing seven-year, 100,000 mile warranty. We’re extremely excited to see what Kia’s designer team does with the Sorento.
“The noises coming out of the company suggest that something of a large-scale overhaul is on the cards, despite its existing popularity. That momentum also says to us that there may be a price reduction. Would that be too good to be true? Not with the festive season around the corner, if it is indeed released around autumn-time as scheduled...“
