Jaguar has revealed the details of the new 2012 XK which has been given its first refresh and facelift since its initial release more than six years ago.
According to the big cat manufacturer, the latest XK has taken a lot of its styling cues from the XKR-S performance model which was unveiled at Geneva Motor Show earlier this month and received a number of admiring glances during its time in Switzerland.
Three 5.0-litre supercharged petrol units are available across the entire XK and XKR range starting with the 380bhp V8 (£65,000). In the middle of the range is a 503bhp version priced at £78,550 and at the top of the range is the potent 542bhp version with a 0-62mph sprint time of 4.4 seconds and a start price of £97,000.
At the front-end the XK will wear a brand new set of headlights that are slimmer and feature LED running lights. A new oval grille also sits at the front complete with a chrome outline and ‘air scoops’ which direct air to the brakes.
On the wings, horizontal air vents replace the vertical versions on the last generation which makes the model look longer and slimmer.
At the back LED taillights are added for the first time alongside a chrome strip emphasising the sophistication of the model and the refinement Jaguar is synonymous with.
The Gaydon-based manufacturer hasn’t moved too far away from the interior of the last generation however it has added a new set of trim levels and leather sports seats.
The XK and the performance-orientated XKR will both be available with the option of a drop-top bodystyle when they go on sale in September in the UK.
The 380bhp convertible model is priced from £71,000 while the 503bhp drop top starts at £84,550.
