Hyundai will attempt to make up ground on the big names in the UK with a higher level of specification on the new i40 Tourer
Hyundai has revealed the prices for the new i40 Tourer with the Korean manufacturer stepping up its equipment levels and improving economy.
With a new start price of £18,395, the i40 Tourer will take Hyundai away from the budget-end of the market and bring it in line with some of the UK’s favourite estates including the Ford Mondeo, Skoda Octavia and the Vauxhall Insignia.
To back that price hike up, Hyundai has added its Blue Drive eco-signature to the range in the form of a 1.6-litre model which sits at the bottom of the line-up.
Completing the engine options are two 1.7-litre diesels available with 115bhp and 136bhp, as well as a 2.0-litre petrol variant.
It is the 115bhp diesel which claims the efficient title on the i40 with CO2 emissions of 113g/km allowing it to qualify for zero VED during the first year of ownership and then just £30 a year thereafter.
All models come equipped with energy-saving technology however with Automatic Start-Stop fitted as standard.
It is Hyundai’s specification list for the i40 Tourer which reveals its movement away from the budget end of the market.
Kicking off the range is the Active spec which comes with LED indicators, an electric parking brake and Bluetooth connectivity with voice recognition while the mid-range Style spec adds a touch screen satellite navigation system and front and rear parking sensors.
Sitting at the top of the range is the Premium specification which adds keyless entry, leather upholstery as well as a range of driver aids including Lane Departure Warning and Smart Parking Assist features – hence an inflated price of £23,795.
It will launch in September where it will be joined by Hyundai’s five-year warranty cover.
