The 5 Series was not the only success for BMW however as the German manufacturer claimed six awards in total including Manufacturer of the Year and Green Model of the Year for the 320d EfficientDynamics model, while the 3 Series, and X5 also triumphed in their individual categories.
Perhaps the most surprising achievement for BMW was the Green Model award as efficiency and economy is not a trait synonymous with the executive brand. The 320d however has brilliant CO2 emissions of 109g/km.

“The new 5-series earned a very rare 10-out-of-10 BusinessCar road test verdict when it was launched last year, and it seems the readers of our magazine and website agree."
As expected, it was the German marques that lead the way at the awards ceremony with Audi and Volkswagen also claiming awards – in fact only three non-German manufacturers tasted success at the awards.
The British-built Jaguar XJ saloon came out on top of the Luxury Car category while the Ford S-Max and the Fiat 500 also won in their individual categories.
