The Citroen DS3 has claimed another award after it was named Car of the Year and Best Small Car of the Year by Diesel magazine.
It beat off stiff competition from the likes of Ford with the updated Focus range and the new Peugeot 3008 Hybrid4 in the overall category.
Editor at Diesel Car, Ian Robertson said of the DS3: “I’m so pleased to be able to announce that the Citroën DS3 is Diesel Car’s Car of the Year 2011. Not only is it extremely talented on the tarmac, it looks fantastic, suits most pockets and is nicely kitted out. It’s the perfect car to make you feel good about yourself."
Released last year, the DS3 was the first model in Citroen’s new, premium DS-line – introduced in reaction to criticism of its ageing and conservative product range.
While the DS4 hatchback and the DS5 are in the pipeline for the French manufacturer the DS3 is Citroen’s car of the moment.
It is one of the best styled cars on the market at the moment and comes with a range of optional extras which make it completely customisable both inside and out.
It’s the latest in a long line of accolades and titles for the brilliant supermini which includes a Top Gear’s Car of the Year prize.
Peugeot and Ford were in fact the other big winners in the awards which were decided by expert testers from the monthly car magazine with both names having two models each in the final standings.
For the blue oval it was the Ford Focus and the Ford Mondeo which topped their prospective categories with the recently released Focus named Best Medium Car and the Mondeo Best Large Car.
Peugeot triumphed in the sports car segment with the distinctive RCZ while the 3008 Hybrid4 won the eco car award thanks to its diesel-hybrid powertrain.
