Audi is looking to improve on its best ever sales year in 2010 by increasing production in its German plants.
Last year Audi produced 1,148,791 cars – more than it has ever done before and 23.4 per cent up on production volumes in 2009.
With the advent of 13 new models in 2011 including the Audi Q3 and the new A6 saloon, Audi expects this rate of increase to continue this year.
“The Audi growth strategy provides long-term security for our sites and for the people who work there," said Peter Mosch, Chairman of the General Works Council of AUDI AG.
He continued: “Everyone worked very hard in 2010, which resulted in more production and higher sales and enabled Audi to emerge from the recession stronger than ever. Now we want to continue following this path in the future."
Audi’s two German plants in Ingolstadt and Neckarsulm increased their individual production rates by 7.5 and 21.7 per cent respectively with Neckarsulm granted the new A6 saloon contract.
Audi is fortunate that it remains one of the most desirable marques in the automotive industry where demand outstrips supply. This has enabled the German giants to sell out of its current production runs yet sustain new orders – hence lead times of up to 28 weeks for its newest model, the A1 compact hatchback.
Askaprice.com holds a number of Audi models at the car-quotation website. This includes Audi A6 lease deals and Audi A1 business lease contracts.
