Warm weather and summer sun doesn’t encourage motorists to buy drop tops, according to a recent study by Askaprice.com.
The car-quotation website decided to investigate the well worn argument surrounding seasonal purchasing and the often-stated ‘SUVs in winter’ and ‘convertibles in summer’ suggestion.
Askaprice.com decided to review the most popular model searches at the website over the bank holiday period which also saw some of the best April sunshine and temperatures on record.
Contrary to common belief there was no surge in convertible/soft-top interest during the warm weather and instead the same old faces made up the top ten most popular searches at the car-quotation.
Between the 22 and the 26 April the likes of the Ford Fiesta, Ford Focus, Vauxhall Corsa, Vauxhall Astra and the Volkswagen Golf were all present in the shortlist while the Vauxhall Insignia and the Fiat 500 also made the cut.
The most surprising results were the final positions of the Seat Ibiza and the Seat Leon as the Spanish models finished in second and third place respectively.
Unfortunately its positioning is not reflective of a Mediterranean inkling from UK motorists when the sun comes out, but instead indicative of the improvements made by Seat and recent specification upgrades by the manufacturer.
The only other shock came with the Hyundai ix35. The Japanese crossover scraped into the top ten in the final bearth.
