The new Peugeot 508 will be the star of the Peugeot line-up at the Paris Motor Show, the French manufacturer has revealed.

The Peugeot 508 embodies the new Peugeot design-language that was premiered on the SR1 concept, in keeping with this theme, the 508 has received a new standard in quality and comfort, says Peugeot.

Available in Saloon or Station Wagon (estate) bodystyles, the 508 is said to “reignite a passion for automotive touring." As such the new model has excellent aerodynamic qualities.

This focus on efficiency is not exclusive to the dynamics of the vehicles exterior, but also apparent in its engine options.

With power output ranging from 112 bhp – 204 bhp, the new fuel efficient technology of the engine- e-HDi system- has enabled the car to achieve CO₂ emissions of just 109 g/km.

This is the first of the new generation of stop and start systems which offers improved driveability and economy enhancements of up to 15%.

At the top end of the 508 engine range is a new 2.2 litre HDi FAP 204bhp engine, with a maximum torque of 450Nm from 2000rpm.

Marketed as a GT version, this engine comes with a special suspension set-up for improved responsiveness and surprisingly improved CO₂ emissions from the 2.7 litre engine used on the 407.

For the GT specificiation, CO₂ emissions sit at 150g/km.

Further down the line, Peugeot has earmarked the 508 for the hybrid treatment. Plans are in place to give the 508 Peugeots own, Hybrid4 technology, a technology that was first seen on the new 3008 Hybrid4 car, also on display in Paris.

Alongside the 508 and 3008 hybrid, Peugeot is also set to showcase its Mu mobility scheme, with visitors to its stands getting an insight into how the scheme works.

Currently being piloted in the UK, Peugeots innovative scheme allows Mu members to rent any Peugeot vehicle at registered dealers, through a points-for-cash system.

Prices and times range from half a day to a number of weeks, with 25 points costing £5.
