Performance

The key feature of the Prius is that it’s a hybrid electric that drives like a petrol, offering some very impressive results. The steering is responsive and weighted, offering tightly checked body roll which lets the car take corners well. It’s a very impressive hybrid of a standard petrol engine - in this case a 1.8-litre with 98bhp - along with an electric motor, which provides extra power when needed or can actually drive the car on its own. The electric motor is powered by high-performance batteries which are charged during deceleration and braking. Petrol and electric motor combined give the Prius 134bhp and a 0-62mph time of 10.4 seconds.

Running Costs

The Prius claims one of the lowest CO2 emissions figures on the road - at just 89g/km it's free from road-tax. Economy is also impressive, with 72.3mpg claimed as a combined figure. With these emission figures and mpg, the Prius truly is an outstandingly economically friendly vehicle that is Toyota is clearly very proud to have on the road.

Equipment

The Prius has three levels of trims available, all featuring a very impressive list of features. The base T3 model comes with a head-up display, seven airbags, automatic air conditioning, and start, electric windows, 15-inch alloy wheels, front fog lamps and a CD stereo. The T4 adds 17-inch wheels, cruise control, automatic wipers, Bluetooth and an upgraded stereo. Top of the range T Spirit models are the most popular and come with a Navigation Pack that includes a hard drive sat nav system, a music server, intelligent park assist and a rear camera.
