Askaprice.com - Past, Present and Future
Askaprice.com, located in Liverpool, Merseyside, was founded in February 2002. Our mission and primary service has always been to provide a useful resource that allows consumers to request free, no-obligation price quotes for new or leased cars.
Many of our visitors have bought or leased their new cars at prices up to 35% off list prices, making us one of the most popular car buying services in the UK. HitWise, an internet intelligence service have recently informed us that we are in the top 30 automotive websites in the UK in our category.
The Askaprice.com website was launched in February 2002, and was one of the first independent car-buying and research sites in the UK.
Since this time, Askaprice.com's growth in the automotive sector has been phenomenal. News of our growth has created positive word-of-mouth advertising for Askaprice.com from both dealerships and car buyers alike, and as the company grew, a team of experts in the fields of technology, marketing, sales and account management was brought in to deliver exceptional service and support.
In order to provide additional resources and information to our visitors, in 2005 we decided to subscribe to CAP data, an official database of manufacturer, model and derivative information for all vehicles on the market, including technical data, NCAP safety ratings, engine performance, list prices, and equipment/features. Although this was bought at great expense, it enabled us to provide unparallelled resources and information to car buyers, and our goal of providing a one-stop-shop for car buyers came a huge step closer to reality.
In 2005 the Askaprice.com team was delighted to be Highly Commended at the Department of Trade and Industry's prestigious 'E-Commerce Awards', held at Bolton's Reebok Stadium. Sponsored nationally by BT and national media sponsor The Sunday Times Enterprise Network , these awards have been designed to recognise and reward those organisations that have demonstrated excellence through the use of the Internet and other Information & Communications Technologies.
The addition of this information allowed us to create our popular Car Research section in 2005, detailing specifications for thousands of current models, as well as a Car Comparison facility to enable you to view up to 4 models side-by-side.
Late-2005 saw the introduction of MotorTorque, a motoring news, features and traffic news service for motorists, car buyers and enthusiasts, that allowed us to supply our visitors with the latest breaking news in the car industry, and after just four weeks we were selected by Google News to supply them with automotive news, demonstrating the authority that MotorTorque was showing.
The year also saw Askaprice.com entering into a partnership with the highly successful Manchester Business School (MBS) Incubator, a joint venture between MBS, Addleshaw Goddard, N M Rothschild and Royal Bank of Scotland. The partnership ensures that Askaprice receives business advice and support, as well as access to consultancy schemes which contribute to all areas, including market analysis/evaluation, financial planning and marketing, as well as unrivalled access to a network of professionals and national companies.
In 2006, the team at Askaprice decided to create a new resource for Askaprice.com: Car Buyer's Guides, which gives expert advice and comprehensive information on all aspects of buying a car, including financing, insurance, safety and maintenance. This section continues to attract thousands of readers per month.
2006 also saw the introduction of one of our most popular features on Askaprice.com: the UK's most comprehensive Car Dealer Directory. With over 7,000 dealerships in the directory, it is one of the largest sources of dealership information in the UK, containing contact information, local maps, website addresses for new car dealerships in England, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales. As an additional resource for our visitors, it also enables potential customers to contact any of the dealerships to request quotes for their current stock.
At the beginning of 2007 our Special Offers section went live on Askaprice.com. This brand new facility enables dealers in our network to advertise their best offers directly to our audience of targeted car buyers, and it is still growing from strength to strength, with over 1,500 of the best available deals on the market, with huge discounts off list prices from the UK's best car dealers.
A huge increase in traffic, over 1,300%, over the previous 18 months also saw Askaprice.com grow the team this year, employing more industry experts to enable us to continue to provide a fantastic service to our growing customer base. With a bigger team, comes bigger premises and Askaprice.com moved right into the heart of Liverpool City Centre in 2007 to allow us to continue to grow the team and offer you a fantastic service in the future.
2008 was another year of growth in terms of visitor numbers to Askaprice.com and staff within the company. In July 2008 we launched our Used Car section on Askaprice.com, displaying over 100,000 used cars from a network of car dealers and dealer groups across the UK. This section has continued to grow and was a fantastic addition to our services, further strengthening our aim of providing the definitive one-stop-shop for car buyers in the UK.
In October 2008 we also re-launched the Askaprice.com website with a new look and feel and additional sections. The new website allowed our growing visitor numbers and returning visitors to easily access the information that they need to enable them to get the best car and van quotes, best car and van deals and make an informed decision regarding their new and used car or van purchase in the quickest and best format.
2009 saw Askaprice.com move into new premises in Liverpool’s business district to house our growing team of experts and enable us to grow still further in future years so that we can continue to provide the very best possible service to car and van buyers in the UK.
In additional to the ongoing maintenance of Askaprice.com and our further developing of Automotive IT solutions, in late 2009 Askaprice.com further expanded the website with the launch of the Askaprice.com Blog and News Section to complement the existing Motortorque.com site and provide car buyers with up to the minute motoring news as well as tips and hints to assist with buying a new or used car or van.
We also launched a Brochure and Test Drive request facility in 2010 to enable you to request a Brochure or/and Test Drive from your local dealer whilst researching your new or used car or Van, browsing the very best deals in the market or requesting free quotations for your next vehicle.
2010 will be another year of growth from Askaprice.com and we will continue in our aim to provide the best one-stop-shop for car and van buying customers in the UK.
In late 2010, in addition to improvements and tweaks to Askaprice.com, we will be launching an all new Special Offers Section so that our customers can benefit from the largest selection of new and used car and van deals, including leasing deals, anywhere in the UK.
